I have enjoyed several of Cindy Woodsmall's books so when I saw this book about Cindy and Miriam Flaud, an Amish friend, I was eager to read it.

I loved the way the two woman took a topic and gave their perspective from their very different backgrounds. In the end the lessons learned were the same just coming from a different direction!

This book is very easy to read as it's broken into short chapters. I loved that some recipes were included that I want to try very soon!

I would recommend this book to anyone who likes to learn from someone's real life experiences and about the Amish way of life! I was given an advance copy of this book by Waterbrook Multnomah Publishing for review.

The Bridge of Peace

The Bridge of Peace by Cindy Woodsmall is another book I really enjoyed.  Cindy is a relatively new author for me, but she keeps me coming back with her great story lines and wonderful characters.

I read this book very quickly because I couldn't put it down and couldn't wait to see what would happen next.  I loved the lesson taught that we are all flawed and need have some kind of handicap.  I would recommend this book for anyone from the youngest reader to those of us who have loved reading for years.

This book was provided for review by WaterBrook Multnomah.

The Miracle of Mercy Land

I was given this book to review as a part of a blogging program with waterbrookmultnomah.com.

I did not like this book. I'm used to picking up a book and not putting it down until it's finished and it's taken me a month to finish this book. I am not a fan of fantasy type writing so I never got into the unbelievable mysterious book that could change the path of someone's life.

The underlying story of a lost love was good and I wish there hadn't been the fantasy part included. I would read this author again because I enjoyed her writing, but the theme was not my cup of tea for this book.

Two Tickets to the Christmas Ball

Two Tickets to the Christmas Ball by Donita K. Paul is a light hearted, easy to read, predictable book about how two socially awkward people were magically brought together.

I don't usually enjoy fantasy books and kept trying to reconcile the fantasy with the Christian aspect and never really got there in my mind, although it was still a very good, well written book.

This book would be good for anyone who wants a quick read or someone who doesn't enjoy reading, but would like to develop an enjoyment for reading because the storyline is easy to follow and the print of the book is easy to read.

Face-to-Face with Mary and Martha

Janet Thomspon did an excellent job in Face-to-Face with Mary and Martha helping woman of all ages physically and spiritually connect with each other.

There are five sessions with five days per session which take very little time to read and answer the discussion questions.  Once a week one-on-one or group meetings will help you to gain more insight into the personalities and relationship of Mary and Martha.

I loved the idea of the M&M's having multiple meanings.  The most obvious is Mary and Martha, then Mentor and Mentee which can be comprised of any two women, and last, but certainly not least are M&M candies!  All three M&M meanings are important in this study.

I would recommend this book to any woman of any age...if you are younger spiritually in Christ ask a more mature woman to be your mentor and do this study along side of you.  If you are a more mature woman in Christ find a young Christian who needs to be mentored and reach out to her.  I know you both will be blessed by this study..

The Missional Entrepreneur

Because I've always been interested in missions and business I thought I would like this book and I did.  I found it to be a little long and found myself skimming much of the information that I already knew.

In The Missional Entrepreneur Mark L. Russell does define the difference between mission, God's overarching purposes in the world, and missions, the local outworkings of Christian partnering with God in His mission.

Russell also explains what business as missions is, which is a term I've never heard before, but as soon as I started reading it I thought "Paul the tentmaker". Because I come from a very mission/missions minded church the concept of tentmaking is not foreign to me.

I don't totally agree with Russell in his assumption that business as mission (BAM) is more important than church planting in unreached areas, but I do think that all Christians can benefit from reading this because I do believe we need to be more mission minded in our daily business whether it's here or abroad!

A Passion for Purpose

I was hooked on this book on the first page! There are 365 devotions to be read once a day throughout the year. I believe it's a book that you will want to hold onto and start again once you come to the last page to glean even more from these pages.

The five authors, Kimberly Sowell, Edna Ellison, Joy Brown, Tricia Scribner, and Marie Alston, each take turns with several topics (Spirituality, Scripture study, Worldview, Relationships, Communication, Ministry, Leadership) that are full of God's truth for all woman.

There are no days of weeks or dates on the pages so if you miss a day you don't feel behind, you can pick this book up and read and be encouraged at any time!

I recommend this devotional for women of all ages and stages in their Christian walk with God.
